Bill has been home taking it easy all this time. We have been doing a few light errands here and there... Grocery shopping and Target runs... but mainly we've been at home. We worked on taxes and a few bills together in that event room. I don't think Bill has ever taken time to slow down like this.
I couldn't talk with him at all about serious topics in the first few days after this happened of course. After an event like this the heart is 'irritable' and it's not good to think of stressful things. Most serious things one needs to discuss after something like this are stressful. So we have to be in a bubble a bit ( not always successfully). The great news is he is feeling more rested and energized since forever. (I'd been wanting him to get a check up for years)
One thing the MDs said is that it's likely that nothing would have shown up before. The test readings looked normal when he first got to the hospital. It's possible that even if you go in and get checked they can't see anything wrong. Until this. Now we are in a new normal. Bill is insanely lucky.
To prevent something like this there are several important things a person must do. Watch ones blood pressure. Eat healthy. Don't add salt to your food. Exercise. Lose weight ( if necessary). Don't smoke.
Actually it would be better to never have smoked. If you are someone who once smoked and stopped ... that's good but not as good as if you never smoked.
After an event like this the rules are the same. Bill had been using his exercise bike, eating well, and he'd lost 30 pounds so at least what we are now eating isn't all new.
Broiled fish, salad, nuts, iced tea.
